To meet this goal we are continually developing our facility to allow for individuals to safely participate in any towed water sport from the levels of a first time newcomer to that of a professional competitive athlete.
Since the early to mid 1990’s towed water sports participation in the Windsor and Essex County region was continually declining close to the point of non-existence. This can be observed with the once 200 member strong LaSalle Water Ski Club having only 8 active members in 2005, 6 of whom were over the age of 50. This decline in this region was in direct opposite correlation with the vast growth in the water sports industry in other regions of Ontario and worldwide, particularly in the sports of Wakeboarding and Wakeskating among the younger generations. As an answer to this, Fresh Wakes Water Sports Camp was developed and began operating in the summer of 2006 on the southern most shores of Lake St. Clair. The driving force behind the creation of Fresh Wakes was to revive the current state of the towed water sports industry and culture in the Windsor and Essex Country region as well as introduce these sports and their new counter parts to a younger generation.
Since its advent in 2006 Fresh Wakes has continually grown and developed, making a substantial impact on the water sport participation and interest levels in the region. The creation last year of our first competing wakeboard camp in the region, “Erieu Wake” is clearly evidence of this.
The ever increasing Fresh Wakes family now includes many key sponsors, investors, partners, athletes, and staff members all focused not only on making the Fresh Wakes brand the prominent towed water sports provider in Canada but also the advancement of towed water sports industry as a whole.
The acronym F.R.E.S.H. stands for “Friends Riding Every Summer Hour” and this was developed to explain the way Fresh Wakes interacts with its customers and is also used as a differentiation technique. Every individual involved with Fresh Wakes is treated as a friend first and a customer second. The concept behind this is to create an environment that fosters the development and maintenance of personal relationships. At Fresh Wakes we thrive on these relationships because it allows for the staff to gain an individuals’ trust which is paramount in creating a sense of comfort and safety. Comfort and safety are crucial when you require individuals to listen to detailed instruction while they are being placed in unfamiliar environment.
